REJECTED IMMIGRANTS RETURN FROM VANCOUVER
FATAL CONFLICT WITH THE TROOPS AND POLICE

It is officially stated that when the Komagata Maru's Sikh passengers, who were rejected at Vancouver on account of the anti-immigration laws of Canada, arrived at Bajbaj, many of them refused to entrain for the Punjaub, and fired, killing Mr. Lomax, the assistant traffic manager of the railway, and four natives, and wounding the Commissioner of Police, and several policemen. A volley from the troops tilled sixteen. Sikhs. The remainder scattered. Many were arrested.
