SUNDAY SCHOOLS' CONCERT
; The anniversary concert in connection'with the celebrations of tho 'Thorndon .Methodist Sunday Schools was an unqualified success, tho chair was occupied Kev. P. J. Cossum. An interesting and varied programmo was given by scholars and choir. Recitations by Peggy M'Oluggago, Nola Wiggs, Vera Collins, and Oliver Sims; Bolos by Dora Collins and Miss Watkins; duet by. Muriel Seaton and Jim Thompson; organ and pianoforte duet by Misses'-J. Nicholas and W. Stoke 3; whilst four dialogues were reudereS effectively by scholars. The aforegoing items were interspersed with' special choruses by scholars and choir under the conductorship of Mr. T. Sims, with Misses J. .NkWas and W. Stokes as accompanists. The annual reports presented, showed that tho Sunday Schools ha<l made steady progress, and wero ina healthy condition, financially, and otherwise. There were en the roll, liolesworth Street, 15.. officers and. teaehors, and 116 scholars; Sydney Street, 9 officers aud ■ teachers, 85 scholars, with average attendances of scholars of 99 and 48 respectively. The income and expenditure was: Molesworth Street, £42 18s. 4d. and £39 16s. 9(1.; Sydney Street £20 3s. 2d. and £14 lis. lOd. In addition to the aforegoing amounts, £11 3s. Id. had been collected by tho>two schools for homo and foreign missions. A scheme had now been undertaken to maintain a native teacher at one of the South Sea Island mission stations.
