HUTT RIVER BOARD
At a meeting of the Hutt River Board held last ovening Mr. H. Baldwin (chairman) presiding, there wero present: Knight, Bowers, Welch, and Kennedy. " The ovcrseftr's report stated that the work of willow-planting had been completed nfc Jorgenson's, at a cost of £16 7s. Bd., and willow plantations had been re-staked at a cost of £5; the refilling of the breastwork at Belmont had also been completed, at a cost of half-a-crown in excess of the estimate (£3); the bank protection below Melling bridge had been finished at a cost of £27 9s. 7d. In this latter connection the Crown lands inspector had expressed the opinion that the work was satisfactory. fl>« river has been low all the month, and all the protective works aro in good order.
