GERMAN SHIPS CAPTURED
AND A GUNBOAT TAKEN
The Prime Minister has received the following message from the High Commissioner:— London, October 1, 4.30 a.m. Official. —A warship captured off the Cameron River nine German merchant ships, of a total tonnage of 30,915 tons. The gunboat Soden was captured and has been commissioned.
| No, gunboat named, the Soden is shown in the lists of German ships in the navy annuals. The vessel is possibly a river gunboat. The Panther (now at Smyrna) and the Eber were the vessels shown as on the station at the beginning of the year.
