SAILORS FRIEND SOCIETY
A most delightful concert was provided by Mr. Proctor at the Sailors' Friend Society Institute last evening boforo a largo and appreciative audience. Mr. James Moore, missiouer, presided, and seats on the platform were occupied by Chaplain Taylor and Lieutenant Deasely. The encores were' frequent and hearty. Those who took part in tho vocal, orchestral and instrumental items were tho Misses Edna Colley, Sparrow, Dodds, E. Colley, Messrs. Proctor (2), Tonsley, Walker, A. Moore, Statters, Curtis, Parkin, and Jones. The performers were rewarded with cheers at the close. _
During the evening the following resolution relating to tho rescue in the harbour on Thursday (which will be forwarded to Lient,. Denniston and Quartermaster Jones), was carried with cheers"We, tho sailors, firemen, stewagcls, and friends in the' port or Wellington, desire to place on record our high admiration of your splendid bravery shown when you so promptly and pluekily sought to save Seaman Donnelly, A.B:, when ho was in imminent danger of'drowning from the s.s. Karamen, in our harbour."
