According to the "Musselburgh News" (Scotland), Mr. Thomas Sandilands has beon elected chairman of the Musselburgh School Board, after being elected highest on the poll by a i majority of 1000 votes. This board manage all the schools in tho town and suburbs, and the board are elected in tho same way as the Towh Council, ovoryono having a vote, and tho election' causes somo excitement. Among the schools arc tho Grammar School, which lias been ■in existonee for 300 years. Its anniversary was recently celebrated. A list of the scholars that attended 100 years ago was published, among them being David Macbeth Moir, the "Delta" of "Blackwood." It was at this chool that the (lag from Musselburgh, Otago, was presented by Mr. Mark Cohen.
