DISGUISED XORPEDO BOATS London, September 26. , The "Daily Telegraph" naval reports quote a letter from' Dr. William Lloyd, to the effect that many trawlers captured in the North Sea were fitted with the Marconi installations, and carried torpedo-tubes. It is unquestionable that trawlers have been: used for miiielaying by night. He says the time has come when the North Sea, should be cleared of hostile and neutral fishingboats, which' cause great anxiety to sailors. The enenjy's submarines approach under cover of German trawlers flying the British or Duteh flag. SINKING OF THEi CRUISERS. GERMANS DECORATED. (Rec. September 28, 6.30 p.m.) Berlin, September! 27. The Kaiser has conferred the Iron Cross of the first class on the whole of the. crew of Submarine U9 for.sinking the three British cruisers, Aboukir, Cressy, and Hogue— ("Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.)
GERMAN NAVAL TACTICS. . HARRYING THE BRITISH. London, September 26. ~ Articles are appearing in the Berlin papers regarding the sunken British cruisers, with tho' object of inducing Italy to partake in the war. It is stated that after this incident Italy may bo assured that she need not have any fear of the British Fleet.
