ESCAPE OF THE KARLSRUHE
FOUND COALING FROM KRONPRINZ WILHELM | New, York, August 14. Tho British cruiser Suffolk, flagship of Admiral Sir Christopher Oradock, on arriving at Halifax yesterday for coal, brought'another version of the engagement last Friday between the " British cruiser Berwick and the Gorman cruiser Karlsruhe. Officers of tho Suffolk say that shots were exchanged as tho two fighting ship's raced through the sea. No damage" was done to tho Borwick, and it is admitted that tho Karlsruhe when last seen was going at a rato which indicated that she had not been injured. Early on Friday morning tlio Suffolk name upon tho IJarlsruho l as sno was beginning to , take coal from tho Kronprinz Wilhelm, tho North German Lloyd linor, which slipped out of New York Harbour on the night of August 3j When tho Suffolk was sighted by the Gorman liner*'the-latter separated from the cruiser, left some of her boats behind, and dashed away to safety. The Karlsruhe was also quick to get away.
