Agribulturo and Fisheries, whoso: officers liaVe made special inquiries into the' quantity new in cold storage- in the principal- centres in England and Wales. As regards chilled and frozen meat,tho existing stocks are. sufficient to meet the ordinary needs at the noi-mal rate of consumption for about sis weeks, while there . are three - to four weeks supply on passage and due to arrive shortly. As ■ regards home supplies, which represent 60 per cent, of' tho total con-. -sumption) the boaa'd have ascertained from the' recently collected.agricultural returns that there is a substantia] increase in.the numbers of live stook as compared with last year. This statement is supplemented by an announcement which Mr. Runciman makes in a written reply,to a question.
