.. In connection with the Otaki Maori Kaemg Club's .Spring; Meeting to-day I and to-morrow, special train arrangements are announced. Holiday excursion tickets will be issued to-day on the trains leaving Th'orndori Station for Otaki.at-7.10 a.m., 8.20 a.m., and 9.25 a.m., and. to-morrow morning on the trains leaving Thorndon at 8.20 a.m. and 9.25. a.m. On the return journey this evening, excursion fares will be available on ,t'ho' trains leaving Otaki ai 6:22 p.m. and 5.45 p.m v and tomorrow ' evening on the train leaving Otaki at■'• 5.45 p.m. . • -Excellent acceptances have : been received 1 for the first. day's events at Otaki; and as the weather looks: promising at the. .timo. of'writing the meeting, should provide capital 'sport.. Among the.acceptors for different races are SGino of tho -winners'., at tho Wanganui Meeting, notably Rone,' Byron, and Waterworks. The Waverley-Waitotara Racing Club has issued an attractive programmo for its annual race meeting on Labour Day. Acceptances for the Napier Park Racing Club's Meeting closo on Wednesday night, with the club's secrotary, Mr.' J. E. Gleadow. Sir Solo, who i 6 engaged in the Melbourne Cup, was shipped to Sydney by the Ulimaroa on Saturday, in charge of his trainer, W. Garrett. On reaching Melbourne, Sir Solo will be quartered at Uaulfield. Trainer. M. T. M'Grath, .who has been spending a holiday in -New' Zealand, 1 returned to Australia by tho Ulimaroa on Saturday. Another of tho Ulimaroa's passengers was Mr. W. Riordan, former owner of Toanga and Royal Marine; Giru and .Psyttyx, the principal winners at the Wawkesbury Races on Saturday, are both engaged in the Metropolitan Handicap, to be run at Randwick next Monday. Giru also claims an engagement in the A.J.C. Derby, to be decided on Saturday. The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the stewards'of tho Hutt Valloy Trotting Club:—Patrons, Sir James Carroll and Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P.; president, Mr. A. M. Samuel; vice-president, Dr. Ross, Messrs. T. Edwards, H. J.Talmei, W. A. Mowbray, G. A. Chapman, E. P. Bunny, S. V. Burridge, P. Mungavin; judge, Mr. A. Laurenson; starter, Mr. S V. Burridgojhandicapper, Mr. F. O. Thomas; time-keepors, Messrs. W. F. Ross, J. Sharpo, and. T. Thompson; clerk of scales, Mr. W. H. Edwards; clerk of course, Mr. H. Arnold; treasurer, Mr. J. Sharpe. The annual trotting meeting will be held on Thursday; January 22 next.
