The local fruit and vegetable market has received rather light consignments of most lines during the past week, and values generally have firmed since ' (reporting.. Owing to the early departure of this week's eteamer from Sydney! the shipment of fruit was very limited, with prices in sellers' favour. . Island oranges, also bananas from both Fiji, and Eorotonga, came to hand during the iveok, the latter an good supply, and prices declined sharply. . Oranges. wero short, with very good nrices offering for all grades. Local apples and pears, mostly ex cool store, are realising vory good prices on a. firm market. Vegetable supplies are increasing gradually, but prices remain- firm in eve.ry instance. Fresh eggs are in equal supply and demand Onione are firmer, but potatoes are still lower than last weok. .
