BOMBARDMENT OF CATTARO
SUSPENDED BY FRENCH FLEET London, September' 23. ,The ■ operations against the Austrian naval base at Cattaro by the French fleet have been suspended, and will not be resumed until a combined naval and military assault is mado. A number of Austrian warships at Cattaro made several unsuccessful attempts to escape the vigilance- of the French fleet. —"Times"' and Sydney "Sun" Services.
MONTENEGRINS MOUNTING 'BIG GUNS. (lleo. September 24,10.50 p.m.) Rome, September 23. . The Montenegrins are mounting guns on Mount Loochon capable of dismantling the Cattaro forts and bombarding, the Austrian warships. Mount Loochen lies between Cetinje, the capital of Montenegro, and the Austrian naval base of Cattaro, which are about nine miles apart as the crow flies. The mountain is 5770 feet in height and overlooks the town of Cattaro, which occupies a narrow ledge between the base of the mountains and the Boche di Cattaro, a winding inlet of the Adriatic forming one of tne : finest natural harbours in Europe.
