■The Pahiatuabowling green is in excellent order, and the fine weather on Saturday afternoon tempted tnindlers to engage in 'a number of pleasant games. ' The Pahiatua Senior Gadet Company held a very successful social in the Drill Hall on Monday evening. The proceeds will be devoted to the Patriotic Fund. At the meeting of the Pahiatua Fire firigede this weckj Foreman J. Stokes and Fireman A. White were nominated to fill the vacancy caused by the' resignation of Lieut, F.. Punch, who has left the district. The attendance medal for the 1913-14 period was presented to Junior Branchman F. Hedges, whose record was 31 attendances out of a possible 33,must6rs. The erection of the party telephone line connection for several Makairo subscribers to the Pahiatua Exchange, which has been delayed somewKat owing to the shortage of material, is expected to be completed shortly. The Mayor, Mr. J. D. G: Crewe, who is- an ardent horticulturist, was a successful exhibitor at the Te Awamutu Bulb Show last week., Amongst the awards was the championship ticket for a narcissus bloom. The new members of the Pahiatua De-" fence Rifle Club have shown marked progress since joining this season, and the proficiency of the riflemen is such that it has been decided to hold only one parade a week in future.
