. , —,__ . ! FATAL RAILWAY ACCIDENT AT BELMONT. A lain] railway accident occurred near Belmont Station nt about 2.45 o'clock yesterday afternoon, in which aii old man named James Kilminster, a resident of Belmont, recoived ■ injuries which caused his death some hours later. It is- understood that deceased, who was returning along the Belmont railway sid-, ing from- a butcher's shop near Belmont, walked in front of the 2.35 p.m! train from Lower Hutt, and, unaware of its approach, was knocked down; The old man was seen to be badly injured, his side being crushed, awl he was at once taken on by the train to Upper Hutt. There he received medical treatment, and was ordered to bo taken to town. Hβ arrived at the Wellington Hospital at about 5.20 p.m., but.died from his injuries twenty minutes later. It is: understood that deceased was slightly deaf, and consequently did not hear .the approach of the train. Deceased was 67 years of age, married, and a labourer by occupation. AN INFANT'S DEATH. An inquest was held by Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., yesterday afternoon into the death of an eight-week-old infant named Ada Elsie, Wilkins, daughter of Douglas Stephen 'Wilkms, of 23 AVindsor Place, who was discovered dead in bed by its parents on Monday morning. ; - . ' Dr; Fyffe, who made a post-mortem on'the deceased child's body, said that death was due to suffocation, caused by a greatly enlarged thylus. gland pressing on the trachea. A verdict was returned in accordance with the medical evidence. ACCIDENT IN, CUBA STREET. A young'man named Thomas Wells, a painterby occupation, recoived a number of minor 'injuries as a result of a collision with a cart at the intersection of "Cuba and Vivian Streets at about 9.45 o'clock-' yesterday morning. Wells was riding a motor cycle, and had-just passed one cart, which apparently prevented him seeing .the second. The cycle .crashed into this.'its rider being knocked'underneath..
