JLne "Bourse Gazette" says that before there is peace Russia must secure the freedom of the Slavs from the foreign, yoke, and end the nightmare of German militarism. "This will involve a dissolution of the Hapsburg monarchy and the abolition of Prussian hegemony; Austria must be deprived of Gaiicia and of Slav Territory, and must also cede Trieste .and Trentino to Italy, and Transylvania and a part of Bukovina to Rumania."

Replying to a cable message from tho Premier inquiring whether there was any foundation for tho report that Germany was endeavouring to make separate peace with Belgium, Mr. T.' A. Ooghlan (Agent-General for New South Wales in London) cables that nothing is known of the matter at the Foreign Office or the Belgian Embassy. The rumour is believed to have emanated from a French source. Tho Belgian Embassy states that Belgium will not consider peaco overtures without consulting the Allies.
