THE EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. OFFICIAL CEREMONY TO-MORROW. PATRIOTIC AND RELIEF FUNDS! UNION COMPANY DONATES £5000. The movement of troops in the town was very pronounced yesterday. In the morning the public were given another opportunity of seeing the Field Artillery marching through the town, with their three batteries. In the afternoon the men were taken for an exercise march, and this time they were without their horses, which have aroused great admiration on every occasion they have been seen. No pains have been epared to thoroughly equip the artil- j lery force; . • Yesterday afternoon the Mounted Regiments were, in town. The men show ovidonce of a strenuous open-air training during the past few weeks, for all wore browned and healthy looking. The horses were a good-looking lot, and in excellent condition. To-day the infantry will be in town, and to-morrow the public will be given an opportunity of seeing the whole of the Wellington force in marching order.. ! ■ : FAREWELL TO THE TROOPS. CEREMONY TO-MORROW. The Prime Minister announced in the House of Representatives yesterday that Parliament would not sit 'to-mor-row, in order that members might be present at' the official farewell te the Wellington troops. He .answered, also, •that the farewell to the Auckland troops would take place this afternoon, and that be would leave .for Auckland that night. ■

THE MAORI CONTINGENT. ' Mr. V. H. Reed asked the Prime Minister (the Right Hon. W. F. Massey) in. the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon if. it had been decided from which districts the men for the' Maori contingent were to be drawn. Mr. Reed remarked that the , North Auckland Peninsula contained onefourth of the Maoris of New Zealand. The Prime Minister replied that representatives of the Native race hadformed themselves into a committee to make arrangements respecting the contingent, and that 'what they'had agreed upon was that every Native district would send its quota according te its papulation.
