MASTERTON SESSIONS
(By Telesraph— Special Correspondent.; Masterton, September 21. The half-yearly sessions of the Supreme Court wa;-e opened. to-<lay by His Honour Mr. Justice Edwards, who congratulated the' district on- tho immunity from crime. The only criminal case was one in which Lovell Rupert Day ah, a youth, of ClarevUle, was chargwl with carnal knowledge of a girl 'under the age of sixteen. After tho oase for the prosecution had been taken, the jury, without retiring, returned a verdict of not guilty. ' ; _". Sittrap in. divorce, Mr. Justice Edwards granted a decree nisi in the case of Emily Thomas v. William Thomas, on the grounds of- adultery. The parties were married at Carterton in 1886.
