Hudson reports the discovery of a comet clearly visible to the naked eye in the south-east, about halfway between Acheuar and Groat Cloud of Mage'lan, but considerably below a, line joining those two objects. 'Right ascension'; 3 hours. 15 minutes south declination 57 degrees, 45 minutes; diffused in telescope, with minute indistinct nucleus, and largo coma; short, faint tail.
