GERMAN DESTROYERS FIGHT THEIR OWN SHIPS
MISTAKEN FOR RUSSIANS Petrograd, Soptember 18. Confirmation has been received that German warships arrived damaged at Kiel. The damage was due to a flotilla engaged in hunting passenger ships in the Baltic Sea mistaking its own ships for Russians. There was a lively battle. Several oruisers and destroyers were badly mauled and many of the crews wounded.

Six Austrian torpedo boatß, in • the absence of the Anglo-French fleet, bombarded the French wireless station at • Antivari. The place was not damaged. SEA CAPTURES. ■■ * (Reo. September 19, 7.50 p.m.) London, September 18. A warship has brought into Queenstown the Holland-American liner Rindam, bound from New York, carrying contraband. The steamer Wernervinnen, bound for Hamburg, has been captured and taken to Sierra Leone. She has a cargo o{nitrates, valued at £50,000. Four largo German steamers have been seized at Hong-Kong. GALES IN THE NORTH SEA'.. (Reo. September 19, 3 p.m.). • London, September 19, morning. Destroyers report gales in the North Sea. Patrol works were carried on in the greatest discomfort. It was impossible to light the galley fires for two days. The men continue in the highest spirits.
