GERMAN DESTROYERS FIGHT THEIR OWN SHIPS

MISTAKEN FOR RUSSIANS Petrograd, Soptember 18. Confirmation has been received that German warships arrived damaged at Kiel. The damage was due to a flotilla engaged in hunting passenger ships in the Baltic Sea mistaking its own ships for Russians. There was a lively battle. Several oruisers and destroyers were badly mauled and many of the crews wounded.

The steamer Wernervinnen, bound for Hamburg, has been captured and taken to Sierra Leone. She has a cargo o{nitrates, valued at £50,000. Four largo German steamers have been seized at Hong-Kong. It was impossible to light the galley fires for two days. The men continue in the highest spirits.
