PALMERSTON NEWS.
The annual meeting of the Starr Bowkett Building Society re-elected as directors Messrs. J. S. Munro and C.'E. Dempsey. , Mr. Dempsey said thero were 31 unappropriated .shares in Group 1 and they should be drawn by the end of the year. On the motion of Mr. A. W. Cosslett it was resolved to hold a special meeting of shareholders of Group 2 to consider the question of extinguishing all unsold shares in that group, numbering 378. It was stated that the Group had been running about ten years and at the present rate it would take 30 years to wind up. The unsold shares retarded the group. New drawings after the meeting resulted in tho following . allottnients:—No. . 1 Group—Henrv Innes, £100; Nils Larjsen, £100; James M'Dowcll, £300; A. L Cook, £300; T. B. Haydon, £100; W Ruthorfurd, £400: Mrs. E. Freeman, £500. No. 2 Group—Miss E. Gaustadt, £300; Miss A. Seberrv, £200; ']'. L. Arnott, £200; J. B. Bowater, £300; W. Inkpen, £300; Mrs. E. Spinks, £300. . Two motor-cars, one containing soldiers, and tho other containing Mrs. Rawlins, camp caterer and her staff, collided at a corner and both overturned. None cf passengers was ser-. iously injured though tho ladies received a severe shock. Mrs. Rawlins was cut on. tho head. The many friends of Mr. A. Pierard, representing Messrs. E. W. Mills and Co., will be pleased to know he is making good progress. He is in a private hospital, and it will be somo weeks before ho is able to be about.
