ALLIES' LUNCHEON
A SYDNEY FUNCTION. .... Sydney September 18. At the Allies' luncheon at tho Millions Club, the Consuls of France, Belgium, and Japan were present, f hey spoke appreciatively of England's action and the need of countering the German pretensions. 'fho French Consul declared that the struggle was inevitable. It had been caused not only by the ambitions of the, Pan-Gcrmanists, but by Germany's economic situation. The Russian Consul said that Russia did not want war; the only reason she had entered into the struggle was because of her blood ties with fifty million Slavs whose sympathies wore with Servia. The Japanese Consul said that Japan would faithfully and honourably fulfil hor Treaty obligations. Japan had not much to do at present,' but would do her share.
