' The annual report (already published) and the balance-sheet -were adopted^' Election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —President, Dr.' W. Young; vice-presidents, Messrs. A. J. Fornie, W. Fraser, A. Hoby, C. T. Rout, and G. Shand; hon. secretary, Mr. F. W. Crombie;.'hon. treasurer, Mr. R. J. Grant; hon. •.auditor, Mr.-A. R. Cdad, F.1.A., N.Z.; committee, Misses IC. Francis, E. C. Williams. Messrs. N. Henley,' W. D. Irons, and C. A. Jeffrey. The motion, by .Mr. F. _W. Crombie that the, club affiliate -with' the New Zealand Sports Protection League was carried,'as were also several other resolutions moved by Mr. Crombie to amend tho rules relating to membership and subscription. It was decided to take adavntage of the remission of the general rate on the club's property :in Palmer Street in terms of tho City Council's resolution, following the representations made by the New Zealand Sports Protection League. , • The opening of the season was fixed for Saturday, September 26. Votes of . thanks to the retiring officers and the chairman concluded the meeting. CRICKET. ENGLISH SEASON AVERAGES. By Telesraph—Press Association—Copyright London, September 15. The cricket averages show:—Batting': J. W. Hearne, 60.45; . Hobbs, 58,63; C. P; Mead, 51.38; J. Gunn, 46.82; Tarrant, 45.82. Bowling: Blytlie, 170 wickets, average 15.19; Drake, 158 wickets, arerage'ls.36. Tarrant, who holds nineteenth place, took 138 wickets, average 18.84. LACROSSE. A successful social gathering waß held last evening under the auspices, of the Wellington Lacrosse. Association. During the evening the chairman (Mr. E. C. Levvey) presented the cup which had been won by the Kelburn Club for the third time. The. following toasts were honoured:—"The Allies," Mr. J. S. Diokson, M.P.; response, Mr. C. G. Wilson. "The Champions," Mr. E. C. Levvey; response, Mr. E. J. Proud. "Lacrosse Association," ; Mr. P. J. M'Govcrn; response, Mr.' J. L. Leydon. "Kindred Sports," Mr. J. F. O'Leary. "The Ladies," Mr. Milne; response, Mr. R. Henltin. Musical and elocutionary items were contributed by Messrs. S. Rankin, Eller, Major, Connors, Keany, Reade, Wallace, Ryder, and R. Renkin. MIRAMAR LADIES' GOLF CLUB The finals of the ladies' golf championship will be played at Miramar this morning between Mrs. Ward and Miss Hannay in the seniors, and Mrs. Martin and Miss Cameron in the juniors. In the afternoon a bogey competition is being organised.
