Fortunately there was no wind or the whole large block, including the Palace Hotel, would ' have gone. The billiard room was owned by Mr. Jas. Hymors and occupied by Mr. S. Knight. The insurances aro:'Building, £300; tables and •contents, £50. The loss over insurance is estimated at £100. The supposed causo of the fire Was a defective chimney. .
