A conference on Monday between the Manawatu Patriotic Committee and delegates .from Wanganui, Marton, Feildirig, Foxton, Shannon,'and Taihapo discussed tho military. authorities' re l quest that a regimental fund should be established to provide extra necessaries, comforts, and medicines for tho Expeditionary. Forces. The conference decided to contribute to the fund an amount equal to £4 for each man from Wanganui, and the West Coast. district, and-to advocate the establish'-; ment of a New Zealand fund-'to bo administered' by accredited civilians either in London or at a base. The Mayor of Palmorston North,(Mr. J. A. Nash) will arrange ft deputation to interview the: Prime Minister/and Defence Minister and General Godley on the subject ~ - ■ " A letter from Masterton expressed approval of this-proposal. '
