NEW ZEALAND TEAM PICKED. The local men, under C'oacli M'Donald, played a practice match at Miramar on Saturday, and the form shown by !both teams assures tho public of a first-class exhibition of tho great American game, which will ho playod on the Easin Ilcscrve at 2.30 p.m. next Saturday. His Excellency tho Governor, tho Earl of Liverpool, lias consented to throw the first bal !, which will be tho first ball thrown in a representative pame in New, Zealand. This hall will then be auctioned, the proceeds, together with the gate receipts, going to the Patriotic Fund. The New ealand line-up will bo as follows:—Moore, catcher; Walters, pitcher; Alexander, first baseman;
Lloyd; second baseman; Ross, shortstop ; B. Willis, third baseman; Morris, loft field; Land, centre field; Shaw, right field. Reserves: M'Anerin, Westerholme, and Hird. Tho American team will be as follows:—Jansen (Washington), catcher; Harrison (Idaho), pitcher; M'Donala (California), first baseman; M'Clintock (Illinois), second baseman; Rev. Johnston (New York), short-stop; Thompson (Idaho), third baseman; Grimshaw (Utah), loft field; Malloy (Alabama), centre field; Wadman (New Jersey), right field. GOLF KARORI CLUB. The filial of the Karori "Club championship was played on Saturday, when I'. R. Boyos won from G. S. Kelly, 3 up and 1 to play. A mixed foursomes is announced for Saturday, September 26. All members of the club are requested to take part in this, as it will be the last competition of tlie season.' HARRIERS; The Brooklyn Harries held their weekly run from Lower Hutt (as the guests of Mr., and Mrs. Ballantyne). Thirty members journeyed out by the train, out of which fourteen donned their running costume. The paper was dispensed with and the pack, under tho' control of their captain (P. Wilton), left Mr. Bal-lant-yne's in a north-easterly direction, and then orossed the bridge and made for Bellevuo Gardens. From there the pack, took to the fields, and traversed seme really good harrier country. They found some good sport in crossing the Waiwetu stream, which was waist deep. The' pack then headed for the Hutt Park, and when reached, turned for home, via Alicetown. From Alicetown a cross-country run-in was held, which resulted in a very keen finish, J. Salmon and J. Douglas making 'a dead-heat, and G. Hutton being next. After the run-in the members and friends wero entertained by Mrs. Ballantyne. Next Saturday ■ the Oiub Championship will be decided at Miramar, aud should be verj" keenly contested. •
