Chrlstohurch, September 11. ■ Mr. Gordon Harper, who was selected as the Reform Party's candidate for Riccarton, and is now a member of the Expeditionary Force, has towithdraw his candidature. Mr. Harper finds tliat,'-oyen if he were elected, he would find it impossible, through the oath by which ho is bound, to the Imporial authorities, to return to tho Dominion for at least one year, and probably mor,o, and therefore, in justice to tho electorate and to the Reform Party, he feels that it is his duty' to withdraw from the contest.
