THE ELECTIONS
QUESTION OP POSTPONEMENT. '■ At a meeting of members of the Government party in .the House of Representatives yesterday, the question of whefther the elections ought to be postponed was considered. From inquiries made after the meeting among membera it wuld appear that the meeting bame to no definite decision on. the main.question, and tha* tho final decision will be left to the Government. A statement on the subject will be made to tho House on Tuesday by the Prime Minister. It is probable that ordinary sitting hours in the House, will be resumed on Wednesday nest, and this may be taken as an indication that work ,is to be expedited for the remaining weeks of the session. . .When the General Estimates are out of ■ the way, the Public Works Statement is likely to be presented almost, at once, and when that is done with the end of tho session should be in sight.
