Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having held a most successful clearing sale on account of Mr. A. Schole3 at Mangaroa-. The herd was probably one of the best end most favourably known throughout the Hutt district, Jlr. Scholcs having been dairy farming in that Dirt for the last 21 yews. The herd came under the hammer in- excellent order and condition, and contrary to expectations a most spirited sale resulted, prices realised being quite on a pajity with, values ruling before the outbreak of the war. The cows averaged the satisfactory figure of £9. Some of the principal prices reallesd are as follow:—Cows, close to calving, £14, £13 155.. £13 10s., £13 2-3. 6d„ £13, two at £12 55.: cows due to calve September and October, V 212, £11 155., £11 !0s„ threo at £11, £10 is. 6(1., two at £10; winter milkers calved September, Starch, 1914, £10 95., two at £9 155., three at £9 ltte., £9 2s. 6a. i others at from £5, £8 2a. 6d. A lino of 12 two-year-old heifers in milk sola at from £5 ss. to £6 2s. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report as follows:—At Woodvillo on Monday we offered'a small yardiug of sheep and a good yarding of cattle. There was no business done in sheep, but the demand for cattle showed an all-round improvement, dairy stock and fat cattle especially Balling exceptionally well, priccs for t-ho latter being obtained no doubt higher than ever before in tho Bush Districts, a truck of fat cows, on behalf of the Hon. ,T, D. Ormond, making £9 15s. Quotations:— Fat cows, £7 15s. to £9 155.; hoU-fat cows, £4 7s. 6d. to £5; "springing heifers, to £6 10a.; heifers in calf, £4 7s. 6d. to £4 15o.; dairy cows, to £5; yearling heifers, £2 12s. 6d. to £2 lfc. Pigs (slips), 20s. A fat lamb offered by Miss Madge Peebles, on behalf of the War Fund, roalised £4, the purchasers being Mr. S. Blanchard, W. E. Grant, F. Rogers, and W. J. H. Thomass, and being finally bought in by the vendor for £1. At Paiuatua on Tuesday wc offer cd no sheep, but a good yarding of cattle, comprising taostly dairy heifers, which sold roally well for anything with quality and Close to profit. Quotations:— quality heifers close to profit, £6 7s. 6d„ £6 17s, fkl. to £7 7s. 6d.; others, £4 12s. 6d., £4 17s. 6d„ and £5 65.; yearling heifers, £2 Vs. fid. to £2 12s. 6d. A steer donated by Mr. ]t; M'Rarlane, jun., to Lady Liverpool's Patriotic Fund, realised £15, the contributors being Messrs. J. 0. Brechin, J. Y Crawford, A. Geange, E. Hielop, F. G. Ker,ridge, R. M'Gowan, J. Morton, S. V. Rodney, J. Stewart, and James Sweeney. Messrs. Fat cattle 6howcd a further hardening of prices, and the fat sheep sale opened at an advance of about Is. per head, and afterwards cased oil to last week's rate. Store sheep also sold. well. There was a. keen demand for fat pigs, especially for porkers, and prices showed some improvement.
