FROM THE WAIRARAPA.
£1000 FOR REGIMENTAL FUNDS./ The executive of the Wairorapa War Fund passed a resolution at their'meeting on Tuesday afternoon asking tie people of the Wairara-pa'to contribute as liberally as possible to the Mayor's relief funds in the .various towns. ■ A circular was • received* from. ' the conference of officers, in the .camp . at Palmerston North donations towards a "Regimental Fund." The ; Regimental Fiuid,, which is sanotioned. and advocated by General Godley and the Army Medical-.Department, is similar to the Regimental Fund of a regiment in the Imperial Army, , aid will bo used to provide: (1) Special' medical attention; (2) special comforts for the sick; (3) extra clpthes or food if necessary; (4) comforts in camp or on board ship; (5) financial assistance to men invalided or separated from their regiments. The executive decided to donate £1000 to the fund. The Ballanco Dairy Company has donated £50 towards/the Empire' Fund. CIFTS FOR ARTILLERYMEN. The public donations to £ho Defence Forces-. since, the war-broke out have been generous, but one section, the [Artillerymen, has,_ it is stated, been neglected. This is accounted for by the fact'that tho Artillery Brigade is a national unit} drawn from all , over tho Dominion, while the other units are essentially local ones. ,Tho following gifts would prove highly acceptable to the Artillery Brigade;— One typewriter! a gramaphone with selections, periodicals of all 'descriptions, .pairs of boots, four bicycles, field-glasses, etc. Cakes and buns and pipo covors to prevent .ashes being blown about when smoking will also be thankfully receiv- . ed.. by the I'ield Artillery Brigade,- com-* prising some 700 men.
