London, September 6,. 8.50 p.m. The Ambassadors of the Triple Entente are making the last efforts to keep peace ; with Turkey. Russian successes continue. The Austrian army in operation in Russian Poland, which met with success at Lublin, was caught by the Russians on Saturday at Tomaszow, between Lublin and Kohlm. The Austrian Tenth Army Corps were defeated, and five thousand prisoners taken. Two Russian army corps were caught between Soldau and. AUenstein, and driven hack with loss by an overwhelming force of Germans, who reoccupy Allenstoin. It is anticipated that Central Germany will bo invaded at three points—East Prussia, Posen, and Silesia. There,is no sound confirmation of the withdrawal •of the enemy's forces from west to east. The Belgians inflicted losses on the Germans at Termondes, south-west of Antwerp. The Belgians have cut the dj-kes. ■-.'',/ ' The "Wilson liner Runo and sunk on Saturday, twenty miles east of the'coast. ■"..'■ The crew and passengers were saved, with the exception of twenty Russian emigrants. London, September 6, 9.55 p.m. The Netley Hospital' is occupied by 800 patients from the front; Shrapnel bullets account ■ for nearly all tho wounded, and the great majority, of those are not dangerously injured. The loss of limbs so far is very uncommon. The fact that there are so few rifle bullet wounds seems to confirm tho statementv that the German infantry aim badly. London, September 7,12.50 a.m. The Admiralty announces., the casualties attending the loss of' tlw Pathfinder. —Dead, on© officer; missing,' 8 officers; wounded, 2 officers. ,The • War Office has issued a third return of casualties.—Killed, ,9 officers, 33 men; wounded, 27 officers, 120 men; missing, 49 officers;- 4550 men. The owners of 100 foreign-built merchant vessels have made application for American registry under tho new Emergency Shipping Bill.
London, Sepiomber 6j 8.40 p.m. ' The ■ following incidents have been mentioned:—rDuring the action at Le Catera on August 26, all the officers and men of'one British battery were killed or wounded, with the exception of one subaltern and two gunners, who continued to servo one gun, and kept up a sound rate of-fire and came unhurt from the battlefield. On another occasion portion of a. supply column was cut off by a detachment of German cavalry. The 'officer in charge wa3 summoned to surrender, but he refused, and, starting tho motors at full-speed, dashed safely through, losing only two lorries. During a rearguard action of Guards Brigade on September 1, Germans were seen" giving assistance to our wounded.
