A special general meeting of this club's chess and draughts players was held on Monday evening, 20 members attending. Mr. Milesi (chairman for 1914) presided.. Preliminary arrangements were made in connection' with the ninth annual match against the Wellington South Chess Club's representatives, who are being asked if Monday, September 21, would be a suitable date for the contest. It was also decided to ask the general committee to supplement the entrance fees received from tho current tourneys in order to provide prizes on the lines of previcms years. Letters of thanks are being sent to Messrs. Dalrymple, M'Konzie, Burton, and Warren, whoso donations are to be used as special prizes. Four games in tho club's handicap chess tourney were got off Inst week, wins being scored by/Messrs. Jensen, Gray, Featonby, and Moivtell. Those who have scored more wins than losses ore now: —Ifeatonby, 7i—H; Gray, 6—2; Burgess, 7—3; Perry, 7—3; Mowtoll, 5—3; Key, 6—4; C. Reid, 4—3; Jensen, 3—2; and J. Reid, 7—5.
