Sellare. £ e. A. P. f. i Now, Sylvia 0 0 6 0 0 II Waihi Grand Junction ... 019 6 10 3 '■■"■ "'■ ■■■■■' ''•' TAMSMAN. ''-.■< \ •'".' EEPORT OP THE DIRECTORS.. . On behalf of tho local board, Mr. Jackson, .visited tho Talisman mine Tβ.contly, <asA ho found the plant and- everything; working quito satisfactorily.' The big Cornish pump is the Woodstock section is jjow' constantly at work, and running quite smoothly, lifting all water, and only working up t» one-Fourth of ite full capacity. ■• ■ . r In vthe '.Woodstock section of the mine, tu the random ol tho fourteenth level, tlie crosscut is out about 460 ft., and a further ,200 ft. should probably reach the Woodstock •reef. .This will, take some two months. Going north the drive is out 275 ft. No values have.yet, beon met with, but eome 760 ft. or SDOft. have yet to be driven before Betting under tho section carrying values overhead. ' Going south, 350 ft. hae been, driven, between 150 ft. and 170 ft., and payable values came in for some. 25ft. "At present," Jfr. Jackson states, "we are trying, to pick up the .vein south.of the main fault, and.thle should come to hand any day, where overhead some 500 ft. the original Woodstock Company stoped the ground." ' Since liie last visit,- Mr. Jackson, foundthat No. 12 winze has been sunk to the random of the fifteenth level. The first 120 ft. went down with consistently high vetoes, tho last 30ft. only being -low grade ore. Prom the bottom of the winze drives have been put out 90ft. eSch way. Going south the values have been erratic, on the whole, wjtli low values at present. A crosecut from the face is" now be;ng driven eastward,- which has intersected about sft. of quartz;- tho first throe feet being payable. At tho time of Wβ visit the essaye for the Jast two feet were, not to hand. Going north, there have been several short runs of payable ore, and, taking it es' a whole, tho 90ft. will show payable values. The General apearance of the country and vein now is mci*s favourable, than it hoe been since the low grade vaVuen came in when sinking the winze, and there is no Teason so far in the work'being done to show why No. 15 level ehould not open up op good as levels overhead. The water has increased in. No. 12 winze workings, and this ehould soon drain'the water now standing in No. 6 and 19 winzes 1 in .the fourteenth level, and when this hap- ' pens sinking at-these points will be resumed. ' > In conclusion, .Mr. Jackson, states that thoTO is absolutely no indication of chouse of country in.depth at fcho lowest'.workings of the mine, and in the absence or chanee Jt was naturally expected the same conditions would bo met with as overhead. Ever considered the advisability of- installing a. water-wheel on your property? There's a lot of power running to waste in that swift stream—enough to drive all yonr farm machinery. This is a good sound proposition—means money to you. Write for particulars. A'. J. Par'ton, Sheet Metal and Plumbing Works, Carterton.—Advt. '
