FIRST LIST OP OFFICERS KILLED London, September 3. The first list of British officers killed includos the following:— Captain W. 15. Gatacje, of the second battalion of the Yorkshire Liglit Infantry, a son of Major-General Sir John Gataore. Captain Gataore served with the South African 'Light Horso in the Boer War, and was awarded the Queen's medal with six clasps. Captain G. F. Luther, the Army racnuet's champion, who belonged to the ] Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment) t and had served with tho mounted infantry in the Boer War. Viscount Hawarden, lieutenant in the Coldstream Guards. Viscount Hawardon was 24' years of ago. and had succeeded his father in 1908, Major Victor Reginald Brpoko, born 1873, fifth son of Sir Victor Brooke, entered the Army in 1894. lately was Military Seoretary -to the Viceroy of India,. Lord Hardinge. The Royal Field Artillery, the Duke of Wellington's Regiment, the West Kents, and the Yorkshire Light Infantry suffered most heavily. 'A- FURTHER LIST ISSUED. (Rec. September 4, 10.25 p.m.) London, September 3, evening. _ The War Office lias issued a further list of casualties as follows:—Officers, 18 killed, 78 wounded, 86 missing; other ranks, 52 killed, 312 wounded, and 4672 missing, of whom 2682 were sent to the base as unfit.
