; A TEMPORARY TRANSFER MANIFESTO ISSUED BY PRESIDENT POINCARE Paris, September 3. A Proclamation 'announces that the seat of Government has been temporarily transferred to Bordeaux. The Proclamation adds: "The reason is purely a 'military one, because Paris is becoming the pivot of operations. Indications do not point to an attack in the near future, but tho armies may be manoeuvring around, and the dofences will possibly be Used for supporting the Allies' vring;' , '■ ' . ■"ENDURE AND FIGHT."Paris, September 3. President Poincaro has issued a manifesto .which says; "Our armies are unimpaired. If some have sustained a considerable loss, the gaps have been immediately, filled.from tho Reserves. 'Bnduro and fight" must bo the Allies' "In order to ensure the utmost-spirit and efficiency, iu this formidable fight, it is indispensable that the Government should remain free to act, and it is therefore temporarily shifting l -its headquarters to a place whero it can roniain in constant touch with the country. "Let us prove worthy in.-these tragic circumstances. Wβ shall gain final victory by unflagging will, by endurauco and tenacity. ■ "The nation which, in order to live, flinches not from suffering and sacrifices), is sure of victory." / : ENEMIES' AEROPLANES OVER PARIS SUBURBS. • Paris, September 3. On one occasion two aeroplanes rose on each side, tie German machines hovering over Romainville fort,' which lies about five mifes east from tho centre The aviators exchanged shots. It was a thrilling sight for ten minutes. The German aeroplane rose all the time, until it reached such a height that the Frenchmen were uiiablo to follow, and they, were ultimately lost to sight, Paris, September 3. A Taube aeroplane which had been dropping bombs in the city'was brought down at Champigny, nine miles south-east from tho centre of Paris. The two aviators were killed. - UNENDING STREAM OF TROOPS POURING INTO PARIS. (Rec. September 4, 8.20 p.m.) • London, September 3, evening. The "Daily Mail's" Dieppe correspondent says that last night an unending stream of-French troops passed into Paris The Germans are pushing forward with amazing speed to strike a blow before the garrison has time to settle down. ———- ( BANK OF FRANCE LEAVING PARIS. General Gallieni, Military Governor of Pans, has proclaimed his intention to defend the city to the last. HEAVILY ARMED AIR FLEET TO PROTECT PARIS. (Rec. September 5, 1.0 a.m.) London, September 4. Heavily armed French aeroplanes are cruising over Paris to prevent further German aeroplane attacks. ' GREAT EXODUS FROM PARIS. (Rec. September 4, 5.30 p.m.) London, September 3. The Paris correspondent of "Tho Times" says the exodus- from the city has reached large proportions, the authorities recognising that it is beneficial for the people to depart in order to relievo the food supply which, in the evont cf an investment would become a serious problem. The crowds wait many hours at various railway stations with numbered tickets entitling them to a placo in the trains. The main rush is to Bordeaux, because of its affording a retreat by water. There are pathetic scenes on the rouds outside Paris, on which are to be seen processions of carts containing'household goods, and many perambulators with infante' hencU emerging from pyramids of bread end veßctiiblca.— "Tltuee" 'iud Sydney "Suu"- Services.. .... •
