In the Supreme Court in Chambers yesterday afternoon, His Honour the. Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) was asked to apportion an amount of £2000 —compensation recovered by the Public Trustee for the death of George Nelson Grimstone, formerly of Wellington., The deceased was one of the victims of j the, Main Trunk railway collision near Mercer on May 27 last. He. left a widow and six children, the eldest of whom is twelve years of age.' Counsel, having addressed the Court. His Honour awarded the widow £SO(J and every - child of the deceased £200, consequential directions being given as to maintenance. i Mr. J. AY. Macdonald, Solicitor. for the . Public Trust Office, appeared for the Public Trustee and the children, while Mr. M. Myers appeared ,for the widow. MOTION DISMISSED.. His Honour the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout), in a reserved deoision delivered yesterday, dismissed ■ the motion to set aside an award made by arbitrators to settle _ a dispute in connection, with a building contract. The ! request was made by T. Ei' K. Burgess, dentist, .of Wellington, and was opposed by Isaac Clark and Son, builders, of Wellington. Mr. M. Myers appeared for Burgess, while Mr. T. Inveroarglil, September 3. 1 At the Supreme Court to-day Henry Hubber, aged 25, was found guilty of assaulting Daniel Cody and causing [ actual bodily harm."
