"Tauroa," Mr. Mason Chambers's fine residence on the Havelock 'Hills, was completely destroyed by fire this afterBopn. It is supposed that a defective chimney caused tho outbreak. Only the servants were at home, and nothing was -saved. The loss includes a valuable, library and collection of curios which cannot be replaced. The outbuildings, being concrete, were saved. The fire was prevented from spreading to tho plantations The insurances are in the Farmers' Mutual Office, the honso for £1750 and the furniture f0r.£1750. The total loss is estimated at £7000.
