ACCOUNTANTS' INSTITUTE
' ~ r+ The annual meeting of the- Incorporated Institute of Accountants of New Zealand. was held in. Wellington on Monday. The vice-president (fife Wm. M'Culloch, of Napier) was in the chair, and twenty other members were in attendance. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. The council stated that the total number of members on the register a,t the end of tho year .was 367 (199 fellows and 168 associates). ' The following were, during the year, admitted to membership by virtue of their having passed the examination conducted by the New Zealand University, on behalf of the New Zealand Society of Accountants :— Messrs." F. Prideaux, G. C. Boycs, D. G. Johnston, Thos., Auton, J. W. Smeaton. Representations are being made to the Attorney-General to include the institute' in the regulations' as a body whose members can undertake the auditing of solicitors' trust accounts. The accumulated funds of the institute now amount to £873 12s. 7d. The following were elocted members of the council: —Messrs. C. P. Powles (Wellington), S. G. Chambers (Auckland), AY. S. Nowburgh (Christchurch), Jas. Brown (Dunedin), and W. M'Culloch (Napier). Mr. Jas. Macintosh was elected auditor. At the council meeting held after the annual meeting, Mr. W. M'Culloch was elected president for the present year and Mr. S. G. Chambers vice-president. Messrs. C". P. Powlesand C, D. Morpeth were reelected treasurer and secretary respectively.
