In the .House of Commons, Mr. Asquith, the Prime Minister, was pressed to permit correspondents to go to the, front ,owing to tho alarming telegrams published in yesterday's "Times." Mr. Asquith said it was impossible to too highly commend the patriotic action of the Press, but the publication referred to was a very regrettable except tion.' He doubted whether correspondents could be permitted to proceed, to the front. It might be necessary to legislate drastically if unreliable' war news was disseminated. HISTORY OF "TIMES" MESSAGE. Lord Brassey, in advocating' the relaxation of the censorship, recalls the happenings at the outbreak of tho South African War. Telegrams were'posted outside the newspaper offices, and when they read of the reverses the people were instantly stirred into action, and contingents were organised. in consequence of the well-timed publicity.
