Tolford with Rerehau will leave Trentham for Marton this morning. Ararat (Advance-rßallarat), one of tho candidates for the Electric Handicap, to be run at Marton on Wedneeday, is very well spoken of. Tie chest-' •nut filly will; require to bo fairly smart to win, as her opponents are likely, to include Garanoe, Want, La Favourita, Ngafua, and other horses that have shown themselves to be possessed of plenty of pace. The three-year-olds. Rencontre and Charmilla, both registered attractive gallops at Riccarton on Saturday. At a meeting of tho Auckland Racing Club Committee on Thursday night the season's programmes, ae drafted, were brought up for consideration. In the face of the war, it was decided to only issue the programme for the spring meeting at the present juncture, tho prize money to be the same as last year, except in tho cases of the Welcome Stakes; and the Great Northern Guineas, which events carry an increase of £150 arid £260 respectively, and for which nominations 'have" already been received. ! ■ Mia Cara, who is engaged in the Maiden Plate at Marton, is the, bay filly by. The horses under orders are the three-year-olds Fabrikoff and Atheldana and the two-year-old colt by Menschikoff—Strange Device.
The "Allegemeine Sports Zeitung" (Vienna) recalls that the Archduke Franz Ferdinand, who was murdered tho other day, formerly owned a good steeplechasor in Csufondar. With George Williamson in the saddle the liorso won at least four good crosscountry events in Austria in 1894 and 1895. Csufondar was. a son of Cambuscan. .
