THE HOUSE
The House of Representatives, meeting last evening after a, ten days' adjournment, sat only for an hour and a quarter. . ' • LEAVE OF ABSENCE. Sis days' leave of absence was granted to Mr. J. Bollard (Eden), on account of illness, three days to Mr. J. Colvin (Buller), and an equal period to Mr. C. E. Statham (Dunedin Central), both on account of urgent private Justness, and ten days to Mr. J. Vigor Brown (Napier), on account of illness. THE RAILWAYS STATEMENT. In answer to Sir Joseph Ward, the Prime Minister said that if it had not been for the illness, of the Minister of Railways, who was likely to bo absent for some days, the Railways Statement (including the report of the General Manager of Railways) would probably have been presented that evening. j»o doubt arrangements would be made to present tho Statement and • report this week. ARREARS OF WORK. The PRIME MINISTER moved that the House adjourn until 7.30 p.m. tov day. Ho said that he did not propose to asK the House.to sit on afternoons this week, and hoped that the Parliamentary Committees would take the opportunity to pull up some of' the arrears of work. The. House rose at 3.44 p.m..
