The Hutt County Council had offered their road grader at a cost of £2 per day, biit as the council would require to find a man'and horseteam to work it, and carts to remove material, which would niean 30s. a day or £9 per week for the grader alone; the engineer was of .the opinion that tho charge was excessive. A steam roller, costing nearly £1000, could be hired for much less. One connection .had been made with the water mains and three permits issued under, the drainage and sanitary by-laws, making tho total numbers 974 water, and 869 drainage. The report was adopted.
