The agreement reached provided for the withdrawal of the prosecutions, also the defendants' allegations of unseaworthiness of the vessel. The crew has been'paid off.
Sixteen members of the . Wyandotte's crew wore charged with, refusing to obey lawful commands to proceed to sea. The defendants alleged that, the Wyandotte has been sold: to the "Union .Company since the; articles were signed, and the sbip_ was charter-: ed to carry meat from Brisbane to San Francisco for the Meat Trust, contrary. to the public policy. Further, owing to the war, there were reasonable grounds for believing there were Gorman warships in the Pacific, and English vessels would therefore be unsafe; also that the charter was not a, bona fide one, that the ship was unseaworthy, and the present master had no authority over the: crow.:' '■'.''
