'-.'■ The Timaru,Borough Council to-night decided to'submit to tie- ratepayers a proposal to raise a loan of £10,000 for street, and other improvements; partly with a view of reducing expected unemployment. ; The Mayor, who visited JVellington recently, saw the chairman, of directors of the Bank of New Zealand aboutaoquiring for 6trcet improvßment a email unused angle of. bank •6ebtion,' and word was received by the Mayor to-day that'the directors of the bonk had agreed to present the land.to tiio town for the purpose named. The gift was accepted with expressions of appreciation.
