The "Daily News" correspondent,at Rotterdam reports that the position of Liege is critical. Shots were fired at troops'from a, house on Thursday, whereupon the Germans; bombarded twenty houses, killing many inhabitant's. . Similar shots at Tongres resulted in the destruction of the town. The Germans drove the inhabitants into Holland, and all were forced to keep their arms uplifted fqr two hours on tho march. \ (Reo. August 24, 0.5 i a.m.) ■ '. ' Par Is, August 23, morning. The movement of the Germans westward across the ' Meuse beyond the range of the Naraur forte is being continued. The Minister of the Interior states that a great battle in Belgium began on Saturday.
