PAHIATUA NOTES
A meeting of the Pahiatua Progressive Association was held oil Thursday overling, when Mr. E. Baucke, who has' been president of the association for a considerable period, resigned his position owing to business reasons. Members, expressed regrot that Mr. Baucko was unabte to fulfill the position for a longer period, and many tributes were paid to his -untiring energy in .the past.' The appointment of a now presidentwas held over. A number of new rules wero adopted, and it was decided to in-' crease the yearly subscription from fis. to 10s. In connection with the agitation for the erection of a new post office on a central site, it wns reported, that the section in Main Street next tlio Bank of Now South Wales, had ktely been offered to the Department for £850, being £150 less than the price originally asked some months back. The price was considered very reasonable. • ' '■ Mr. and Mrs. George Boss and family, who have resided in the Kaitawa district for a lengthy period, were entertained at a farewell social in tho Kaitawa Hall this week, prior to their leaving the district. Mr. Ross has always taken a keen interest in the wolfaTe of tho district, and at various periods had been connected with the Kaitawa Cheese Company, school committee, Domain Board, and ball committoo. On behalf of the settlers, Mr. A.Stevenson presented Mr. Ross with a trnvelliiipr-bap; and rag. The members of the Tano Morris-tube Club continue to' take a keen interest: in the weekly contests..
