ROSE AND CARNATION CLUB

The annual meeting of the above club was held on Wednesday evening, 'Mr. C. W. Tringham being in the chair. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet'the chairman said that in evory respect ho considered tho report a satisfactory one. The club's finances were in a comparatively flourishing condition. The balance-sheet showed an excess of assets over liabilities of £55 6s. 4d. To , the donors of special'prizes and trophies the club offered grateful acknowledgments, tho total value given this year 'being £60, constituting a record. The Town Hall has been secured for November - 18 for the rose show, and December 16 for the carnation., and sweet pea show this year. Mr. W. J. Thompson moved a recommendation to the incoming committee that a patriotic' rose show Dβ held this year, the proceeds to be handed to the Mayor's Patriotic Fund.—This was carried. . The following officers were appointed: the Countess of Liverpool; president, Mr. I. B. Harcourt; vicepresidents, Mrs. Arthur Pearce, Mrs. H. M. Gore, Mrs. F. C. Vallance, Messrs. C. W. Tringham, W. Bourke, and A. Laurenson; management committee, Messrs. "W. J.Thompson, A. Richards, W. A. Read, H. A. Fox,. G. Teffery, G. Remington, and 'W J. Har•and; treasurer, Mr. W. J. Burch; auditor. Mr. 0. H. Matthews.
