DASHING ADVANCE OF THE FRENCH

BRITISH ARMY SAFELY ACROSS KITCHENER'S GREAT FEAT RUSSIANS SCORE FURTHER :,. _ SUCCESSES. , . V " STIR IN THE NORTH SEA. - v. To-day's cable messages from the theatres of the great European war dispel all doubts about the movements of the British Expeditionary Force. The transportation of three/ British Army Corps to the' Franco-Belgian frontier was completed last Friday and Saturday. The week-end saw "the finest troops that England has ever 6ent across the seas" encamped on the French hills inland from Boulogne and other, ''- - points of debarkation. The troops were hailed with frantic joy and admiration by the French people, who watched the khaki columns marching and singing through the streets en route to their base. The French advance through Alsatia has penetrated almost up to thb great frontier line of fortresses, driving before it fljing squadrons and battalions of Germans, demoralised by the deadly fire of tho' 1 French artillery. The strategic points along the French lino are now strongly held. 'All is well with the Belgian Army, Liege still stands, and the combatants, says' one correspondent, have made their final dispositions for the great battle. From Berlin reports have 'filtered • through of famine pricesj mob riots, angry demonstrations against the ■* .-, Kaiser, and-sinister hints of a civic revolution, v but these reports are ." more than probably of the "wild-cat" description. The Russians have advanced well into the oncmy's country, and all the German offensive t , movements towards that frontier havo been-stopped. There is some stir in the North 1 Sea, but of actual events there is nothing definite, ' ' although opposing squadrons and flotillas appear to be in contact, ,
