ENTERTAINMENTS
HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. Miss Daisy Jerome scored another big success at His Majesty's Theatre last night, where the large audienco greeted her with vociferous applause. Her songs this week include a dramatic seena entitled "Temptation," "The Dairyman's Daughter," and "Anyone Oan See She's a Lady." The budget affords her ample scope for proving her versatility. She is supported in the programme by a number of clever artists, including tho Hartley Wonders, the New York Comedy Four, Crotton and Kremka, Sebatian Merril and his Yip Yaps, Vornon and St. Clair, and Sam La Mert. The entertainment generally is well,up to the high standard set sinco vaudeville commenced its career at this theatre.
• THE KING'S THEATRE. The picture production of the great drama, "Paid in Full," with the original New York' cast, is th.. feature film on the current programme at the King't Theatre, whore big houses are sure to be the order for the remainder of the week. Latest war nows is screened each evening at this theatre, and a popular item last night was the Auckland Contingent in a march past and in the tram setting out to fight for Britain. The ships of the King's Navy were cheered by the house .and enthusiasm reached a high pitch when Mr. Charles Grey sang "Rule Britannia." Appropri-' ate music was supplied as usual by the' King's Orchestra, under Signor A. P. Truda.'
"READY MONEY." The ready money of everyday life is prone to beget interest, but tho "Ready Money" of dramaturgy, it is claimed; leaves its commercial competitor stalling in this field. It is not over-oapi-talieed in farcicality, but it pays a hundred per cent in its shrewdly humorous attributes (of "wit, wisdom, and, wickedness." No dramatist before has ever regarded money as anything bukone of the most serious considerations in life, to be treated with respect, even upon the stage. But Mr. Montgomery has produced a singularly clever and well-constructed play, treating the subject with brilliant, but good-natured, cynicism, and with a hearty but kindly appreciation of humanity's worship at the Altar of Mammon. It if difficult to know in what category to place the play, for almost pyery member of the audience will find it at times suggestively biographical, and will suddenly realise that he is laughing unrestrainedly at himself. But tho wit, and the cleverness and the brilliant epigram of the piece as it unfolds, is said to make it scintillate with a kindly charm that is irresistible "Ready Money" will produced foi the first time in Wellington on Mondaj next, at the Grand Opera House, b) the J. C. Williamson Company. A etrong cast 'has been engaged for tho presentation of the play, headed bj Mr! Charles A Millward and Mr. Wii liam Harrigan. The box plan will opes at the Drosden to-morrow.
THE EMPRESS' THEATRE. The many noted land-inarke and famous edifices'oofr f the big city are most attractively displayed in the film "Living.London.". A highly instructive subject is "The Making of a Dreadnought." Other films are: ,f Tho Englishman, and'tho Girl" (A.B. comedy), "Fear" (S. and A. Company), and "The Toll-gate Raiders" ' (Kalem drama). A complete change of programme is billed for to'-inorrow.
