PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL
A meeting of the Petone Borough Council was held last evening.. PresentThe Mayor (Mr. J. W. McEwan), Crs List, Cox, Brockleban Anderson,- Findlay, Townsend, Jones, and Trueman. In reference to an application by N, Doneghus for progress payment on the bodies of the municipal motor 'buses, it was resolved that the matter be left in the hands of the council's .-xecutive' to deal with in the terms of the contract, the.Mayor adding that information had been received to Hie effect that the motor chassis now on order, had been commandeered by the Home Government. A councillor drew attention to a Pre'G report, that stated there was a probability of the Council's work being held up and askod if the. information had been ob-' tamed officially. In reply the Mayor answered in tho negative, and added that thero was no likelihood of any such thing arising. ■ ' ■ The boat harbour was again under discusion, when the .matter of applications for space in the proposed municipal boatshed was considered. Owing to the small number of applicants several councillors doubted if the project was worth while going en' with. It. was agreed, however, that the council should execute its agreement with ,'the Wellington Harbour Board,,and that the Heretairaga Boating Club be notified that accommodation would be provided for boats in tho.proposed boat-shed at a rental of JJ3 per annum, otherwise tho matter would bo dropped. Tho gas manager (Mr. J. C. Masters) reported- that 7 new gas services had been fixed, and 11 new meters installed.' Three new water services had been connected, and the whole of tho wntermaius thoroughly flushed.
