The secretary of the Wellington Automobilo Club wishes to acknowledge with thanks the following donations towards providing refreshments for the members of the club who are placing their cars nt the disposal of the Defence authoritiesAfternoon tea, The D.T.C. (Mr. iSimm) The Burlington (Mr. Oliver). Rose Tea Rooms (Mrs. Harrison). Miss Maxwell; tea and sugar, Mr. Wardoll; crockery, teapots, kettles, etc., Messrs. W. G. Duthio and E. M. Anderson.
Mr. D. Buick, M.P., has forwarded to tho Premier ■ tho suggestion of Sir. J. Goring-.Tohnston that in order to prevent the inflation of prices in Britain, tho Imperial and New Zealand Governments net jointly to purchase all New Zealand food supplies oxported to Britain. '' At a Citizens' Committee meeting it was stated that sixty military reservists sent from Auckland get a shilling a day. It was resolved to increase the pay to the' local rate of 4s, fid. a day, for the benefit oi and families. h
